Introduction to Graphic Design
Create your own custom graphics and logos using the same tools as the pros. Together we’ll explore what goes into creating graphic art with fun activities designed to show you the ropes. We’ll experience what goes into building graphics for websites, school projects, personal use, and all other purposes in between. No prior experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome.

Goals and Learning Objectives
- Become comfortable with basic and intermediate GIMP skills
- Understanding Typography and the proper use of kering, letting, baselines and other type settings
- Gaining skill sets in product design and creation
- Work with and gain the basics of graphic design: import/export, photo editing, layer effects
Projects and Activities
- Create a digital portfolio of various graphic design projects
- Design you own “fake” product that can me used in marketing
- Edit your designs into new formats such as T-shirts, mugs, coupons, flyers, etc.
- Logo design based on your name or very own “company”.
